Our Amsterdam pages carry a line most of our city pages don't: Held in English. It is on all seven Amsterdam evenings, the five behind us and the two ahead. If you moved here to build something and your Dutch isn't there yet, the room is already in your language.
These are our own evenings, so this is a host's guide and not a survey of the city. What has happened at them so far is in Amsterdam so far.
Two rooms, two neighbourhoods
The two fall evenings are not in the same place, and the canal belt lies between them.

Side Quest Bar has been our room since July. Hotel Fifty Five is new for us. Before either, in May and June, we were at PONG, a ping pong bar on Jan van Galenstraat in West. Read the address on your ticket before you get on the bike.
The week after ADE
Amsterdam Dance Event runs from October 21 to 25. Last year's edition drew 600,000 visitors to more than 1,200 events at over 300 locations, by the organisers' count. Our October evening is on the Thursday after it ends, when the city has its rooms back.
Three founders, one Tuesday
On Tuesday, August 25, three companies pitched at Side Quest Bar. All three work on health, of the body or the mind:
- MESH, seed. Software that turns an ordinary camera into a tool for clinical assessment: movement, gait, range of motion.
- JUNO, pre-seed. A fertility app for men, built around understanding and improving sperm health.
- Elea International. An AI companion app for emotional support, with a simulator for practising a difficult conversation before you have it.
A fourth company in our Amsterdam base is in the same field: Vulpés, Series A, makes wearables that treat as well as track, with heat, infrared and muscle stimulation. And one Dutch company, argile, which is building a model of buildings for the construction industry, has pitched with us, but in San Jose, on July 29.
Mind the day
Our first four Amsterdam evenings were Tuesdays and the fifth was a Wednesday. The next two are a Thursday and a Wednesday. Doors open at 6 PM on both, the stage starts at 7, and the evening closes at 9. What to bring to your table is in Bring One Ask.

- Our site shows these prices with a dollar sign. The ticket page shows the currency and the amount you'll be charged.
